Our Journey

Branch History

From humble beginnings to becoming the strongest teachers' voice in Migori County.

KUPPET Migori Branch was established in 1994, shortly after the formation of KUPPET National. The branch was set up to provide organised representation for post-primary education teachers in the newly formed Migori District (now County), which had previously been served as part of the South Nyanza region.

In its early years, the branch focused primarily on establishing sub-branches across the district's diverse sub-counties, recruiting members, and building awareness of teachers' rights under the employment law framework of the time.

Over three decades, KUPPET Migori has grown from a small regional office into a powerful union representing over 4,500 teachers across all seven sub-counties of Migori County, covering more than 320 secondary and technical institutions.
